Did the Empress Break Up Today? [Interstellar]

[A new story set in the same universe, The Years I Returned to the Marshal's Secret Crush, is now on VIP]

A short video has gone viral on the Imperial StarNet.

In it, a bright-eyed, golden-haired girl with dazzling white teeth rolls up her sleeves and squints in the sunlight as she oils a mecha at the base.

Netizen A: "Damn, even a beautiful girl looks gorgeous while oiling a mecha!"

Netizen B: "Is this an ad? Where do you find a girl this pretty oiling a mecha?"

Then the camera turns...

While everyone else dresses up in the latest fashions, she oils mechas at the base.

While everyone else throws lively house parties and enjoys life, she oils mechas at the base.

While everyone else is already making eyes at each other in their free time, she...

Is still oiling mechas at the base.

It didn't take long for the Mecha-Oiling Girl's personal information to be dug up:

A straight-A record holder at First Military Academy, from a poor family, working her way through school, refusing all outside donations. A model impoverished student, and a shining example of the modern independent woman of the stars.

Netizens: "...That's so touching. Look how diligently she oils those mechas."

Until one day...

Interstellar News announced that the mysterious first heir to the imperial throne would make her debut. Everyone waited in front of their terminals, eagerly tuning in to the live broadcast.

Then they saw the supposedly poor girl who worked her way through school, with nothing in her heart but mechas, that "shining example of the modern independent woman of the stars," turn toward the camera and smile faintly.

"Hello, everyone. I'm Princess Zhao Zhusong, and I'm graduating from First Military Academy this year. I can't keep this up anymore. I'm going to take the throne."

Everyone: "??"
