Blurb:
Willow strands sway in the breeze, the morning air is clear; the loom's rhythmic clatter drifts again and again. Spring is so lovely it stirs the heart. I am like a little swallow, and you are like a soaring hawk...
In November, the autumn chill settles over Xinjing. In the stillness, an invisible pair of withered hands seem to be strangling a vital thread of her fate, leaving her unable to advance or retreat, unable to die, and struggling to live.
At that moment, she is surrounded on every side. Like a trapped beast, she stares at him through the crowd, trembling all over, fierce defiance hidden in her eyes. She grips the murder weapon tightly, ready for them to die together.
He leans against the table, seemingly unaware of the danger approaching. He rolls something between his fingertips and casually taps his cigarette case.
Through the swirling smoke, the man's slender fingers hold a cigarette by its end. He smiles faintly at her. "Put down your weapon, and I'll pretend none of this happened."
She instinctively widens her eyes, looking utterly incredulous. She can't help thinking: I don't believe a word you say. You old fraud, what nonsense. Do you even know where we are, or what era this is...
This is an era of storms from every direction, with war raging everywhere.
Countless years, battles, and millions upon millions of people gave their lives and their youth for peace in the generations to come, for a prosperous land and a flourishing age...
A century has passed. I am no longer in this world, but the land and rivers remain.
Please note before reading: The leads have an age gap of six years. The heroine's soul transmigrates due to a bug. The male lead comes from a merchant family and later becomes a pilot.
Author's note: Half fiction, half reality. No need to check the historical details. This is only a record. If you don't like it, don't read.
*The story's background comes from my great-grandmother. She grew up in Xinjing and was forced to part from her closest loved ones at the age of fourteen. She lost contact with them, endured years of hardship, and moved from place to place. They never saw each other again.
Theme: Don't let the passage of time erase a story.
