The Rising Star Changes His Persona Every Day

[Modern showbiz, two stars trading dramatic performances, a silly sweet romance, and a System that's a good guy] Ruan Zhi, a rising star, clearly hadn't checked his horoscope before going out. A System designed to prevent characters from going out of character suddenly appeared and bound itself to him. System: “I was created because too many authors kept ruining their characters. My mission is to prevent all out-of-character behavior! From now on, I’ll give you the script. Follow every line exactly! If you go out of character, I’ll zap you into next week~” Ruan Zhi: “...” WTF?! The award-winning actor Du Cangsheng recently joined a hugely popular reality show. The six celebrity guests chose their own partners, paired up, and spent three months living together as pretend couples. He was still trying to decide whom to pick when the currently red-hot star Ruan Zhi walked straight up to him and clasped his hand tightly. Du Cangsheng: “.” With tears in his eyes, Ruan Zhi read the domineering CEO line assigned by the System: “Hah, man, your husband is right here. Who else do you think you’re going to choose?” Du Cangsheng: “?” Ruan Zhi’s fans: “?!” Du Cangsheng’s fans: “???” The CP fans, who’d already decided who was top and bottom: “Wow!!” Reality Show Mini-Theater Ruan Zhi had always presented himself as a sweet, handsome, boy-next-door type. It was only recently that his fans discovered their little brother / son / husband was actually a drama queen! Especially after he and the award-winning actor played a couple for three months. They were putting on a dramatic performance every minute of every day. Day One: Ruan Zhi took the actor to the hills behind his hometown. “My dear subject, these are all the lands I conquered for you!” Day Two: Ruan Zhi took the actor to the kitchen, grabbed a French fry, and flung it at the actor’s feet. “Wretched disciple! Take your Violet-Green Sword and get out! The next time we meet will be the day we fight to the death!” Day Three: Ruan Zhi shook the actor awake while he was still asleep, looking utterly incredulous. “Where’s Eunuch Wang?! A man who climbed into my bed is already lying on my imperial couch! Exterminate his entire clan! The whole clan!” Day Four... Then, one day, the award-winning actor suddenly posted a declaration to all his fans: @Du Cangsheng V: Now you’re one of my nine clans, @Ruan Zhi Roger. [Setting] 1. The names come from the line: “Though his writings astonish the world, he is only the people on paper.”, Gong Zizhen. 2. His greatest joy is livestreaming his rants about the ridiculous plot holes in novels and TV dramas. Then, one day, the electrical wiring at home exploded during a stream. When Pei Xian came to, he discovered he was bound to the Character-Breaking System XX1. System XX1: “The world you’re in is a composite world, where a magnetic-field anomaly has accidentally merged a campus love polygon, a tragic romance with a regretful ex, a cultivation and supernatural-ability world, a suspense-horror world, and a paranormal terror world. You are the male supporting character shared by all these overlapping worlds.” Pei Xian: “.” System XX1: “Before long, you will In the campus-novel storyline, play the devoted, gentle, wealthy second male lead, accept the heroine’s confession, then get cruelly dumped later on; In the showbiz storyline, be a lovesick, second-tier star who gives his heart to someone, only to be treated as a substitute for their true love; In the cultivation and supernatural-ability storyline, become an obstacle in the protagonist’s way and get humiliated and beaten to a pulp; In the paranormal-horror storyline, wander into a haunted house by mistake and, as the cannon-fodder second male lead, get dismembered by a demon. Only by going out of character can you keep yourself alive.” Pei Xian, who now knew the script for his own life: “...I think I can still be saved!” So he began going wildly out of character in every storyline. Campus-novel storyline The sweet, unassuming heroine, with an approachable charm, blushes and confesses to him. Pei Xian: “Sorry, I’m not into women.” Heroine: “!?!” Showbiz storyline The rich patron gazes at his sexy, aloof face and flicks a check toward him. “Eighty million. Be mine for a year.” Pei Xian: “Sorry, I’m not into men.” Patron: “...?” Pei Xian glances below his waist and says expressionlessly, “Besides, you’re not as big as me.” The patron flies into a rage: “???” Horror storyline A sudden downpour hits while Pei Xian is livestreaming a hike. He looks up and sees a dilapidated, eerie little cabin in the woods. Its broken wooden door, little more than a frame, creaks and sways in the wind. The pitch-black interior looks like a bottomless abyss, luring him inside. Viewers: “That’s terrifying! Should we go take a look?” Pei Xian stays where he is and unzips his pants. “They say a virgin’s pee wards off evil.” The abyssal ghost: “.” Slowly withdraws its hand. Suspense-horror storyline A reality show invites Pei Xian, now one of the country’s top-tier streamers, to take part in a murder-mystery game with live NPCs aboard a ship: Pei Xian turns them down. “No, thanks. Confined spaces are where locked-room murders happen.” Director: “...” A reality show about a live-action airsoft game invites Pei Xian to join: Pei Xian: “Thanks for the invitation, but I’ll pass. There are too many people on the production team, and it’d be easy for someone to swap the blanks for live ammunition.” Production team: “.” [High-energy warning] 1. An apparently ordinary man with a hidden identity as the top x a seemingly aloof but secretly silly, mischievous bottom. 2. The goal is to write a lighthearted, healing bedtime read. There isn’t much of a plot. 3. I’m grateful you’ve given it a try. It may not be worth reading to the end, but please don’t leave a bad review or I’ll cry for you, boohoo! Theme: Life doesn’t always go our way. Face it with optimism, find the fun in everyday life, and bring warmth to the people around you.
