[The Untamed] Spring Famine in Yunmeng

[Jiang Cheng's Story]

What does it take to marry Jiang Cheng?

You have to be a natural beauty, gentle and virtuous, thrifty and good at managing a household, with a respectable family background. You can't talk too much or speak too loudly, your cultivation can't be too powerful, you can't spend too much, and you have to be good to Jin Ling.

Most importantly, you have to be Zhu Tingwan.

[Jin Guangyao's Story]

“Even though he killed his master, his friends, his wife, and his son, and committed every wicked deed under the sun, he still gave me a peaceful corner, a clean table, and the scent of flowers.”

Xi Gui wields a broken blade, clearing every obstacle in Jin Guangyao's path. She kills and burns without hesitation, a blade feared by everyone in the cultivation world.

Jin Guangyao commits every evil imaginable, scheming for half his life out of wounded pride. Yet deep in his heart remains a clear pool, holding the image of a girl with willow-leaf brows and almond-shaped eyes, who never smiles.

[Lan Xichen's Story]

“Yao Ge, why won't you accept me?”

“The Buddha says that with delusions in your heart, every step through the mortal world is a step through hell. I was the one who held on to delusions.”

“All conditioned phenomena are like dreams, illusions, bubbles, and shadows. But if you don't come, I won't leave either.”

When the Wen Clan burned Cloud Recesses, Lan Xichen led his disciples away to safety. At the Green Bamboo Zen Temple on Pingfeng Mountain lived a beautiful female spiritual healer, whose skill could bring the dead back to life. From then on, a handsome young man in the Lan Clan's cloud-patterned robes, a flute in his hand, could often be seen outside the temple gate.

[Nie Huaisang's Story]

“Paint a thousand mountains, and every stroke falls upon autumn garments.”

The daughter of the Ye Clan of Fufeng, she was known throughout the cultivation world as an ugly woman. Though plain as could be, she was virtuous and proper, the ideal wife to run a household.

Nie Huaisang was forced to marry this ugly wife, only to discover that the Ye Clan's reputation was nothing but rumor. She was in fact pretty and well-read, but suffered from a disability and couldn't walk.

From then on, Nie Huaisang wanted nothing more than to be an idle young master, drawing his wife's eyebrows and painting her portraits.
