The crowd, their eyes brimming with hatred, closed in. Duan Rong leaned against the cold iron gate and surveyed them, his expression calm. "Since every one of you says a debt of blood must be repaid in blood, fine. Today, I, Duan Rong, will repay my wife's debt."
Yunmi Province lies in the humid tropical rainforests of the southwest. Lin Dalong, the notorious leader of one of the province's criminal gangs, was arrested. At his trial, he suddenly pulled up his shirt to reveal a green dragon tattoo and declared arrogantly, "I'm no crime boss. I'm the Dragon King of the forest."
His final taunt before execution spread through forum posts and newspaper gossip, until everyone in Yunmi Province had heard of it.
When he was arrested, his son and daughter were both in high school. Seven or eight years later, with the police having long since let down their guard, his eldest son, Lin Pan, had become an ordinary hoodlum, while his younger daughter, Lin Jiao, had excelled at everything and become an outstanding surgeon.
"Lin Jiao, love can't save you anymore. I have to send you to prison. I want people to know that justice in this world is the right path. It will never lose, and it will never die."
"It's all right. I don't blame you."
