The Emperor's Heart Is Like a Chessboard

On a winter's day, the charcoal fire in the brazier burned brightly, keeping the palace warm and cozy.

Zhao Baoxian said, "The selection will take place next spring. By then, the palace will be full of beauties of every kind, so you won't have to sigh over having no concubines to talk to. Zhao Yan lay on his side on the rug, gazing steadily at her without a blink. After a long while, he said, "You've never understood how I feel."
