Yan Er fell in love with Lin Shaofeng at first sight in the Beech Forest of Waipoua. She went to great lengths, even pledging the pay from one of her films and making a solemn promise to the director, just to get the chance to approach him.

Whenever Yan Er confessed her feelings, she only dared to stand some distance away from Lin Shaofeng and speak softly. She hoped he would hear her, yet was afraid he would. She thought her confessions had all come to nothing, but unexpectedly, Lin Shaofeng put them to good use.

While recording sound, Lin Shaofeng accidentally heard her confession. Later, he edited together recordings of each time she had confessed, then used her own voice to confess to her.
