Usurpation

There is no crime in Xindai City. Big data accurately predicts all potential criminals. They are fitted with electronic collars and locked in the Hive, allowed outside only under the surveillance of law enforcement officers known as "Falcons." No one expected Beiyi, the sweet and adorable top scorer in this year's Falcon recruitment exams, to be assigned on his very first mission to the most dangerous man in the entire Hive: DS7759. The rumors say that every Falcon who has partnered with him has died. * On Beiyi's very first day on the job, his dangerous assignment draws blood. Qi Ye wipes the blood from Beiyi's face with his thumb and licks it. "A little sweetheart like you shouldn't be doing dangerous work like this." Beiyi looks seven parts aggrieved and three parts pitiful. "...Is that how you talk to your boss?" The light above them bursts, every appliance in the room shorts out, and a piercing white noise rings in Qi Ye's ears, giving him such a headache he feels like dropping to his knees. Beiyi reaches out and touches the iron collar around Qi Ye's neck, smiling with an utterly harmless expression. "I'm Beiyi. I look forward to working with you." Colleague: Old Qi, bullying the new guy again? Qi Ye: ... (SOS) * Day 0, Qi Ye (certain): Relax. The little sweetheart won't last a week. He'll quit on his own. Day 31, Qi Ye (certain): Boss, I managed to snag you the last rabbit yogurt mousse in the cafeteria. Plays the pig to eat the tiger + healing sweetheart + polite foul-mouthed type vs Self-destructive tendencies + unhinged big shot + loyal, whipped husband The setting takes inspiration from Psycho-Pass, PKD, and cyberpunk, with a mountain of original worldbuilding. Theme: Beneath the sun, no darkness can remain.
