The Wild Female Singer of the Eighties

*

Singer Pan Xiaoye wakes up in 1988, in the body of a high school student named Pan Xiaoye.

Her father has made his fortune and is pushing for a divorce, while her mother is kicked out of the house. Pan Xiaoye disguises herself as a stand-in for the male lead's "white moonlight," only to lose her life.

Pan Xiaoye tears the plot to shreds.

She thinks, I've got skills and a mean right hook. How hard can it be to deal with a few scumbags and bitches?

*

Half a year later, on a commercial street outside Z University.

Pan Xiaoye sets up a stall with a dual-cassette recorder, making mixtapes for customers. When the mood strikes, she even belts out a few lines into the microphone. She's having a great time.

Xu Yuanfang happens to drive by and catches a glimpse of her.

He rolls down the window and buys two tapes.

Pan Xiaoye happily takes his two yuan. When she hears someone call out "Xu Yuanfang," she freezes.

The young man in white in the car is the male lead from the novel, the very person she's been trying her hardest to avoid...

They don't meet again until years later.

Xu Yuanfang holds out a rose, drops to one knee, and says with deep affection, "Xiaoye, you are my red rose!"

Pan Xiaoye rolls her eyes.

She thinks, If I'm your red rose, then where's your white moonlight?
