Camellia

Qi Bai pushed Chun into the lake, thinking she had little chance of survival. It wasn't that he felt nothing for her, but the rules of this world demanded choices and sacrifices.

She survived, but no longer remembered him.

He thought that was the end of it, the end of the little bit of sincere affection he'd lost to her when he was young and foolish.

But then word spread through Honghe City that she was going back to the Southern Kingdom.

Everyone in the city said the Grand Secretary's family had gone mad. The Southern Kingdom was plagued by constant warfare. Even if the Grand Secretary's family had lately fallen out of favor, they were better off clinging to life in Honghe City than perishing amid the smoke of war.

As the entourage slowly left the city, Dongkui led her along the edge of the city wall, speaking private words through her tears. Qi Bai hid behind a large pillar. In a daze, it was as if he saw the sun setting over a long river, with smoke from the desert fires rising in the distance.

Only then did he suddenly realize that she really had gone far away.

What interrupted Qi Bai's endless thoughts was Chun's cough.

From the heroine's perspective: Someone loves you, yet without hesitation puts you in mortal danger. Why?

"The son in the room?" Tsk--

(P.S. It's actually a melodramatic story, though the blurb is trying to sound grand.)
