The Lean Sheep

Beta Town has a notorious dog market. While wandering around, Carlet spots a boy locked in a cage, blond and blue-eyed, curled up in a corner. Chains cover his body, heavy enough to press down on his back. Thin cords wrap around his slender neck, and countless scars crisscross his pale back, a horrifying sight. Carlet's gaze flickers. Raising an eyebrow, he asks the owner, "How much for this one?" The owner frowns and shakes his head. "That's a young dragon, a dangerous creature. Not for sale." Carlet isn't a saint. He knows that young dragons are the slaves nobles like best, and he doesn't want to get in trouble for interfering with their fun. So he decides to let it go. The second time Carlet visits the dog market, he sees the boy in the cage again. Now he's covered in blood-crusted wounds, some deep enough to expose bone, yet he's still locked in the cage. Naked in the dead of winter, he's covered in snow and ice, his limbs frozen purple. His eyes are closed as he lies on the ground, barely alive. This time, Carlet can't stand by. He flicks away the cigarette in his mouth. "Fuck, I'm robbing that wagon tonight, no matter what." Carlet isn't a good person. He discovers that Fexis doesn't seem to be one either.
