Warning: I tend to overthink things, so I'll keep revising the blurb and synopsis.
A deranged heroine with off-the-charts jealousy vs. a fallen saintly, obsessive, neurotic hero
I:
In an infinite-flow survival game, Shu Xi is nothing but the male lead's hanger-on.
Ordinary aptitude, plain looks, and so little presence she might as well be part of the background.
Naturally, the protagonist's group ostracizes her. She eventually turns evil and dies as cannon fodder.
The moment Shu Xi learns what will happen next, she goes mad:
Why wasn't she born with a special talent? Why wasn't she stunningly beautiful? Why didn't she have a mysterious and powerful background?
And why... isn't she the protagonist?!
She was supposed to remain humble forever, but she refuses to accept an ordinary life. Jealousy burns away her reason.
At last, she sets out on a path of darkness, without a shred of regret.
If something doesn't belong to her, it may as well be destroyed.
Including the protagonist.
(The heroine starts out pretending to be an honest, ordinary person, then goes completely off the rails. The crazier she gets, the stronger she becomes.)
II:
Qi Deng never wanted to be a savior.
He just happened to have power, and happened to be placed on a pedestal by everyone.
His friends taught him responsibility, taught him sacrifice, taught him to be a good person.
When he accepted all of it, Shu Xi left.
Not only that, she took the opposing side and pushed him into the abyss...
He should have resented her for it, but what he felt was something deeper than hatred.
Gradually, he watched Shu Xi grow brighter and brighter, while drifting farther and farther away from him.
Everyone said, "He should have cut ties with a vicious woman like her long ago."
They didn't understand.
If Shu Xi didn't exist, why should Qi Deng care whether the world was destroyed?
He didn't even need any friends.
From beginning to end, the only person he wanted was Shu Xi.
And he should be the only dog at Shu Xi's side.
(The hero pretends to be a saint but is really a neurotic who likes being physically abused by the heroine.)
Warnings:
1. Neither lead is a good person in the conventional sense, but neither is without limits.
2. They are each other's one and only. They can't sacrifice their lover to save the world in the name of some noble ideal.
3. The themes are dark, and this is not a conventional infinite-flow story.
Theme: Imperfect people finding perfect love
