Little Ancestor

This is the next story I'll be working on, around 200,000 words.

Three-year-old Mo Lü sat on a wooden horse, gripping a rattle drum and playing with all her might. She was the prettiest girl in the compound, with thick eyelashes, a pale pink face, and clear black-and-white almond eyes.

She loved riding her wooden horse most of all. When she grew up, she was going to buy a donkey. There was no helping it. Her father said horses were too expensive and their family couldn't afford one, so they could only buy a donkey.

Perhaps all that fun had brought bad luck. Mo Lü lost her grip and fell to the ground. She stared blankly for two seconds, then burst into a wail like a pig being slaughtered.

Yu He'an had just arrived at the compound and was helped out of the car. In a white shirt and vest, he looked cool and refined.

He glanced at the little girl crying her eyes out, his expression unreadable.

The compound's manager frowned and was about to speak when he saw the young master of the Yu family, who hadn't said a word the entire way, walk over.

He held out a milk candy. "It's sweet. Don't cry."

Mo Lü, still wailing like a pig, lifted her face, drenched in tears, and choked out, "Is it expensive?"

Yu He'an laughed. "It's the only one in the whole world."

Mo Lü lost her mother at three. At five, her father married a stepmother and turned into a stepfather. Only Yu He'an was good to her, so she took her rag doll and went to find him. "You can be my daddy from now on."

For a long time afterward, Yu He'an let Mo Lü call him Daddy.
