Chen Caini's first eighteen years had already been more eventful than many people's entire lives, full of every kind of joy and sorrow. She'd gone from a wealthy heir to someone on the margins of society.

At her eighteenth birthday banquet, in full view of everyone, her fiance put his arm around another woman and shouted that he wanted to break off their engagement.

Mao Yuanzhou carefully held a disheveled, delicate woman in his arms, but glared up at the elegantly dressed girl on the stage with bloodshot eyes. “Even if we were to marry, the Mao family wouldn't help you! You deserve to go bankrupt. I'd never marry a vicious woman like you!”

Chen Caini exchanged a glance with the woman in his arms, gently brushed the crimson rose in her hand, and smiled faintly.

That very night, she was sent abroad.

Six years later, Mao Yuanzhou sat silently drinking alone in a corner when he heard someone beside him say, “Hey, I heard Chen Caini is back. I saw it on Qianqian's social media. Her plane should be landing soon, right?”

Mao Yuanzhou froze mid-sip. When he realized what he'd heard, he grabbed his car keys from the table and rushed out.

Everyone was dumbfounded. After a moment of silence, someone ventured, “I heard... she might be married?”

“Yeah.”
