A Broken Halberd Plucks Peach Blossoms

One-sentence summary: In a world battered by storms, he carefully tends the delicate flower in his palm.

In his previous life, as he lay dying in the wilderness, Huo Xi heard his subordinates wailing in anguish. As his consciousness slowly faded, his thoughts still lingered on the beautiful girl with the picture-perfect face.

All he could think was, Damn it, I never got to marry her. What a regret...

Reborn, he stands before the golden throne, watching the empress raise her head defiantly, indignant and furious, trying to uphold the dignity of the royal house.

Her voice stiff, she says, "Rebel! What is your intention? If you want my throne, then wait until my soul has departed this world!"

"I raised an army for no other reason than to marry Your Majesty. If that cannot be, then I humbly offer myself as your imperial consort." He affects a cold demeanor, but inside, his heart aches with tenderness. The softness in his eyes is almost impossible to hide. He rose in rebellion only to root out the parasites plaguing this battered realm and restore it to its former glory for her.

The longing he carried through both his past and present lives began and ended with her. When she stood atop the city walls in all her finery, every flower lost its color, and no one else ever appeared in his dreams.

A rough-hewn man and a delicate young woman, through two lives.

His life's purpose is to shield her from every storm and keep her free from worry.

P.S. Limited political intrigue; mainly a sweet romance, with a little melodrama.
