Flirting Without Batting an Eye

After a semester studying abroad on exchange, An Ran returned home. On her very first day back, she learned that her ex-boyfriend had lost his campus heartthrob title to a new freshman idol.

That night, An Ran met up with a friend at a bar outside campus, where they happened to run into the legendary new campus idol.

Before they went in, her friend pointed out the idol's table and gave An Ran the rundown: aloof puppy, handsome and quiet, rich second-generation... She threw around every description imaginable.

After leaving the bar, An Ran was stared at for quite a while by the supposedly aloof, handsome, quiet puppy idol. After a moment, he walked over, lowered his gaze to her face, and asked in a cool, deep voice, "Your skirt looks nice. Where did you buy it?"

-First time falling in love at first sight, still learning the ropes.

The aloof heartthrob is flirting with her in the most direct way. Sweet romance.

"Thin Lips"

"You really don't want to see me that badly?" The man's voice was low and cold, impossible to read. "Fine."

After that, Gu Yanheng went abroad and didn't come back for three years.

That night, separated by a wall, all their friends were there. They all heard it, and all tacitly avoided bringing it up.

Later, one night after drinking, looking at Ji Shi'an's calm, obedient profile, Xiang Yao finally couldn't hold back and asked bluntly, "Shi'an, what's going on between you and Gu Yanheng? Why don't you get along?"

Gu Yanheng had always been the golden boy, from childhood onward. He rarely ever lost his composure, even around the friends he'd grown up with.

The only time he ever crossed the line was in high school, when someone happened to snap a photo of him. In it, the usually cool and self-possessed boy was pinning a girl against a wall and kissing her with possessive intensity.

The photo was still posted on the school forum, but no matter how much people investigated, the girl's identity remained a mystery all these years later.

At this, Ji Shi'an tipped her head back and took a sip of her beer. She smiled as if it didn't matter. "There's no bad blood between us."

There really was no bad blood between them. It was just that she was the girl in that photo.
