The Coveted Beauty

On his way to the capital, Song Linlang, the youngest son of Jiangnan's richest family, came upon a destitute young man who was covered in blood and had collapsed in front of his horse.

Linlang treated his injuries and gave him the gold pouch he carried as travel money, then departed with effortless grace.

Three years later, the Song family was destroyed, and hundreds of its members were beheaded.

Linlang had made a name for himself at a young age, famed for both his talent and his looks. The emperor granted him a special pardon, sparing his life but condemning him to serve as a government slave. Before long, many had their eyes on him.

Prince Jing was notorious for his taste for men. He claimed Linlang and installed him in the rear courtyard of his residence.

The next day, the Great General of the South came to visit. Prince Jing ordered him to play music and recite poetry.

With his face veiled, Linlang played and sang. When he looked up, he saw the Great General wearing Linlang's gold pouch at his waist.

He threw his arms around the Great General, and they wept together.

When Linlang looked up again, the Great General and Prince Jing were already fighting over him.

The two men, both sporting black eyes and swollen faces, demanded that Linlang choose between them. A grand plan for revenge slowly took shape in his mind.
