I remember a really long Touken Ranbu fic featuring an original female character x all the swords, so this is an original male character x all the swords.
I read it a long time ago, so I'm not sure if this will overlap with that story. I figured I'd change the pairing, too. (I can't find the other story, so I can't check.)
The main plot is probably: fall in love with the spirits of all the swords (some relationships are familial or platonic, since... short swords... that'd be a bit much...) across different timelines → die in front of them in a really tragic way (since he knows he'll be reincarnated, he lets loose) → become the Saniwa of a new citadel and pretend to have amnesia to stay away from the love-triangle chaos.
It's going to be very, very long.
