The protagonist of this book is Ye Fei, an ordinary university student who winds up on Yulan Blue Star after an accident. Under bewildering circumstances, he finds himself with a fiancee. With questions about his parents and his family's origins weighing on him, he heads to the Academy of Cultivation with his chubby friend. Even more inexplicably, without taking any tests, he is placed in the Academy's law enforcement division, the Heaven's Punishment Unit.
This gives him a chance to uncover the truth about his background. But during a major tournament that seemed perfectly ordinary to everyone else, he unexpectedly wins the favor of a young Xuanwu divine beast.
More surprising still, his fiancee is willing to marry him. She is even willing to turn against her family for his sake, and the reason turns out to be connected to their childhood.
With the help of his wife and his friends, Ye Fei gradually shatters the schemes lurking in the shadows and gets closer to the truth. Only after learning the truth does he discover what really happened!
