A song of Yao Qin, a love destined in the immortal realm
He slammed the door on his way out. Before leaving, he said to me, “Qiao Yaoqin, do you really think I’d pick up what’s left of Zi Xuan?”
He let out a long sigh, then suddenly pulled me close and said, “The past is like smoke drifting before our eyes. What’s gone is gone. Yaoqin, promise me that from now on... you won’t think about it anymore.”
He spoke slowly, rambling as if telling an ancient tale from the dawn of time. “Yaoqin, I once learned an idiom in the mortal realm: ‘quenching thirst with poison.’ That’s probably what I’m doing now.”
A short story Hu Huan wrote on a whim. It was entered in JJ’s “Love the Past, Delight in the Present” short story contest.
Hope you’ll show it some support.
