Version one: In the eyes of the world, Cui Jiulang is an illegitimate son of unknown origins from the Qinghe Cui clan. He clawed his way up to become Chief Justice of the Court of Judicial Review, and no one knows how many shameful deeds he committed. It served his first wife right to die of illness before she could marry him.
Version two: Jiulang was solitary by nature and had only two close friends: Princess Yuanmu and Wang Jin of Langya. The former was his first wife, who died an untimely death; the latter was his sworn brother, a friend who shared his life and death. Before he died, he entrusted his beloved to Jiulang, who then took her as his second wife.
Version three: His second wife came from the Jurchen people. After the Jin dynasty fell, she surrendered and came to our country. Wang Jin took pity on her loneliness and weakness and swore to marry her, despite his clan's opposition. The princess and Wang Jin died one after another. People said Jiulang brought death to his wives, while she brought death to her husband. So he simply married her and waited to see which of them would bring the other to ruin.
Version four: She is naive, and I am cunning. I am the only one who can take good care of her. Wang Jin, you have your principles of honor, but I have no choice but to keep going down this wrong path.
I expect to start posting in earnest after Love Fish is finished. I'm putting this idea up for now. It should be a short story, with an ocean of ideas flowing through my head~
Strictly speaking, it's not a sweet romance, but it is a story about doting on someone, in a dark way. (Do you love me? Are you scared?)~
