Twenty Years of the Past

1. The story begins in 1991, so there will be some period-specific differences.

2. Most of it is drawn from the lives of people around me. To avoid identifying anyone, I may change dates or events.

3. A happy ending is guaranteed. I'm too old to handle a sad ending.

4. Childhood friends, one-on-one romance.

5. I'm writing the story I want to write. The pacing is very slow.

I handwrote this story in class back in 2012, when I was still in college.

After graduation, I went through a breakup, moved around before finding work in Beijing, and the exhausting life of a drifter there made me stop writing for a while.

I picked it up again in 2020, when I was working from home during the pandemic. Just as I was nearly done, the writing software lost my draft!!!

Then, two years later, I finished it on the subway ride home from work. But I forgot to post it. I forgot I still had an unfinished story here.

It's the New Year, so let's finally put that regret to rest.

This is Su Fang and Lin Sheng's twenty years.

It's almost my own twenty-plus years, too.
