City of Kindness

Every time Zhou Min saw Zhang Fengqing, he was always polite and refined.

There was always a casual smile on Zhang Fengqing's lips, making him seem easygoing and approachable.

That was why he had countless friends, and Zhou Min was one of them.

Some people said Zhang Fengqing was a sheep, mild-mannered and gentle.

But Zhou Min thought he was a leopard hiding beneath a sheep's skin. When he showed his claws, even the cocky street thugs steered clear of him.

Zhou Min had seen him lose his temper just once.

Her best friend told Zhou Min that Zhang Fengqing wasn't as simple as he seemed, and advised her to avoid getting any closer to him.

Zhou Min came from an ordinary family. She didn't have many outstanding qualities, but she followed the rules and knew her limits. She always stuck to the personal code of conduct she'd laid out for herself.

And in her rulebook, Zhang Fengqing was a big red X.

Zhang Fengqing had always done as he pleased. His rulebook contained many red check marks and a few red Xs, while Zhou Min was the only red circle.

Zhou Min ran into trouble, and Zhang Fengqing was the one who helped her out.

With a thank-you gift in hand, Zhou Min knocked on Zhang Fengqing's door.

He opened it with a cigarette between his lips.

"I came to bring you a thank-you gift. Thanks for helping me this time." Zhou Min handed him the gift, biting her lip. "Why... did you help me?"

"Want to know?" Zhang Fengqing didn't take the gift. Leaning against the doorframe, he slowly exhaled a ring of smoke. "Come in, and I'll tell you."
