[The Story of Saiunkoku] Red Kite

A red kite drifted and swayed up into the sky. A spring rain fell, dampening its wings, and it drifted and swayed back down. That was the day Hong Yuan was born.

Hong Xiuli has a younger sister she hasn’t seen in fourteen years. The moment they meet, she likes her so much she wants to take her home and raise her.

Hong Lishen has a daughter, not one born to a proper wife, and wants to raise her himself. No one else is allowed to covet her.

Hong Shaoke and Hong Jiulang have a niece they dote on, hugging her and lifting her high in the air, but their own father took her away to raise.

Hong Yuan has many relatives and friends who love her, but she just wants to be alone and have some peace and quiet.

(Look at the tags I chose. This story was never meant to be full of twists and turns. It’s more of a gentle, slow-paced read, but it won’t be a very long story either. Sigh! Can’t be helped. There’s no food, so I’ll make my own and eat it myself.)
