Amid the vast and turbulent world, from the wars of the Republic to an age of peace, the winds of change rise once more. The underworld remains as it always was. Just as all humans, be they commoners or emperors and generals, must face the great matter of life and death, so too has transcending death been the long-held wish of some. Such defiance of the natural order, such a delusion that the underworld can be emptied of souls, will inevitably lead to a clash with its denizens, no matter how one tries to avoid it. Since ancient times, victory has made kings and defeat has made outcasts. The Ten Kings of Hell, Meng Po and the Heibai Wuchang, the Ox-Head and Horse-Face, the four judges, and the Netherworld Emperor have drifted through the river of history, claiming the lives of emperors above and the souls of commoners below. Surely death is not all they have witnessed?
PS: This book is planned to have five volumes: Commoners, Emperors and Generals, The Wars of the Republic, Life and Death, and An Age of Peace. I'm sorry that I can't share the outline. There are several kinds of couples, but the main pairing is the Heibai Wuchang [you can think of them as a brother-sister romance], sweetness level: four stars. Rakshasa (Horse-Face) x Shidian [BL fans who dislike this, please don't read], sweetness level: three stars (with major angst). There are also the Day Patrol God and Night Patrol God [a conventional pairing], and the Netherworld Emperor and Lady Houtu [a conventional pairing]. They're all strong characters working together, and very good-looking partners. There are also five planned bonus chapters, which will appear after each volume or together at the end of the book.
Finally, some of the underworld lore in this book is based on the Iron City and Mud Hell Sutra, so it may differ from what you imagine. For instance, the Ox-Head and Horse-Face don't literally have those heads; they wear masks that can be taken off and put on. Meng Po isn't an elderly woman, but a young and elegant lady. The Kings of Hell aren't decrepit old men, but a group of exceptionally handsome young men...
