Years later, they meet again in Chang'an. Liu Wei has been reinstated and once again commands the Censorate, while Ye Shaowei has gone from an unknown courier to the new ruler's personal guard.
Liu Wei can't help reminding him, "Why be another man's lackey?"
Ye Shaowei replies, "I serve as his claws and fangs; you serve as his eyes and ears. There's little difference."
They have seen each other at their lowest and watched each other grow, so when their eyes meet, there will at least be a trace of warmth.
