Dongfang Bubai: Bound by Fate in This Life

This is my first fanfic. Calling it fanfiction is a bit of a stretch: it's an entirely original story that only borrows the name and appearance of Dongfang Bubai. I've barely read The Smiling, Proud Wanderer, and apart from Dongfang, I have no interest in its characters. To be honest, I don't know much about Dongfang either; I just have a stubborn fondness for him. I've looked up lots of Dongfang fanfiction online. Apart from A Dou's story, which warmed and comforted me, none of the others, no matter how well written, were really my cup of tea. To make one of my dreams come true, I summoned up the courage to create a story for Dongfang myself, one where he could find happiness in my imaginary world. Here's the story: Xiao Yibai, an unmarried woman well past the usual marrying age, undergoes a bizarre transformation after a snow disaster, changing sex and getting a body upgrade. She finds herself in the Ming Dynasty, a place she knows nothing about. Once she's gotten used to her new body, with its smaller chest and more of...everything else, Xiao Yibai just wants to live out the next few decades she's been given as quietly as possible. Years pass in her new surroundings, and this oblivious person still hasn't realized she's landed in a wuxia world. Then, amid her peaceful life, she meets a woman who seems ordinary but is anything but. As time goes by, they develop feelings for each other that neither can explain. Just as she's agonizing over the fact that her soul is, in some sense, a lesbian, she discovers that the woman is actually... P.S. This story has no outline; I write whatever comes to mind. It has nothing to do with the events in Mr. Jin's books, so please ignore any details that don't quite line up. The goal is a gentle, heartwarming little story to soothe the soul ^ ^ P.P.S. As for why I have a woman transmigrate into a man's body: I'm the kind of awkward author who wants to write danmei but can't quite manage a male first-person perspective, so I make the male lead a woman turned man every time.
