Country girl Cui Ling'er happens upon Liu Changxing, the Marquis of Sleeping Moon, who has been ambushed, and saves his life. During their escape, Cui Ling'er obtains a fragment of a starstone fallen from the heavens. Liu Changxing takes her back to the marquis's residence, where she meets the Liu family, and so begins a wondrous journey.
