All things in the world, from earthly treasures to heavenly wonders, are born and transformed from nine elements of nature: the five primary elements of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth, and the four auxiliary elements of wind, thunder, light, and darkness. The nine elements generate and overcome one another, supporting each other as they exist. Their power originates in the depths of the Ye Luoli immortals, and each element has its own sacred realm.
Each realm chooses the immortal with the purest and strongest spiritual power in its element as its chief deity, though each deity specializes in only one element. Yet the chief deities all submit to the Divine Sovereign of the Immortal Realm. The Divine Sovereign's lineage rules as the imperial family of the Immortal Realm, commanding a million spirits and immortals. They can control multiple elements, and those with exceptional gifts can even unlock powers over space and time. By the Divine Sovereign's decree, the chief deities once joined together to establish the Spirit Rhinoceros Pavilion, charged with enforcing the laws of the Immortal Realm and jointly protecting the peace of both the immortal and human worlds.

Their final decree stipulated that when their son, Prince Qionghua, turned one thousand, he would ascend to the position of Divine Sovereign and rule the Immortal Realm together with his sister, the immortal Xiyao, also known as Tianyao. But unexpectedly, not long afterward, the chief deities of every realm fell into a slumber of the spirit, and Prince Qionghua and Princess Xiyao vanished as well. The Spirit Rhinoceros Pavilion gradually faded from view, until the young immortals knew nothing of it and believed it was all just legend...
