“Congratulations, you've become a special case, Mr. Murderer.”

Zhongyuan Zhongye's hood is forcibly pulled off. The sudden glare makes him squint to relieve the stinging discomfort. Mottled spots of light dance across his retinas, and gradually he can make out the executioner's face.

It is a young man wearing a smile perfectly suited for television. For no reason he can name, Zhongyuan Zhongye takes an immediate dislike to him. He guesses the man before him is no older than twenty-five, or perhaps even younger. A perfectly pressed, high-end suit fits him impeccably. Every sound echoes through the enormous space, making the room feel even more irritating. The young man playfully pinches the judgment document between his fingers and waves it around. “So, the condition for your immunity is, ”

“Please make sure you survive these next seven days.”

Still wearing that same smile, the man bends down and unlocks Zhongyuan Zhongye's handcuffs.

“Dazai Osamu.”
