The first time they met, Lin Ran turned down a woman's confession at a hotpot restaurant. Xie Chaoci, the owner, was smoking nearby and tried to set them up: "She's a lovely girl. Won't you think it over?"
Lin Ran looked up at him and, on a whim, replied, "If it were you, I'd consider it."
Xie Chaoci was so startled that his cigarette dropped from his mouth onto the floor. He waved his hands and said, "Let's never meet again!"
From that day on, it was as if he'd opened a box of misfortune. He kept ending up in the hospital emergency room.
As it happened, Lin Ran was an emergency room doctor.
The two kept running into each other, and whenever they did, something was bound to go wrong.
Later, Lin Ran moved and happened to rent the apartment below Xie Chaoci's.
Xie Chaoci couldn't resist teasing him again: "Dr. Lin, we'll be seeing each other every day from now on!"
But then the two started missing each other.
Before long, Xie Chaoci couldn't take it anymore. He ran to Lin Ran to complain: "Dr. Lin, did you mean what you said before? Why not give me a chance instead?!"
