Shangjo Izumi is one of only fifty "Gemstones" in the world, and the world's most powerful Gemstone ability user.
His ability has the same black-box nature as Sogiita Gunha's, but unlike Gunha's, it manifests in a wide variety of ways. He is the only person with multiple abilities, or Dual Skill.
His most powerful ability is his Level 5 Fluid Manipulation, a supernatural power that lets him freely control the direction and properties of fluids within a certain radius around him.
This ability made Shangjo Izumi the fourth-ranked member of the eight at Academy City. Though the nature of his power is as impossible to measure as a cat in a box, unlike Sogiita Gunha's, whose manifestations are a complete jumble, Shangjo Izumi's demonstrated abilities have considerable research value in several fields, earning him a high ranking.
Originally an orphan and a Gemstone from outside Academy City, Shangjo Izumi was brought into the city. For some reason, he lost his memory, and after waking up, went on a wild rampage. After Kamijou Touma stopped him, the Kamijou family adopted him, and he became Kamijou Touma's younger brother.
From then on, Shangjo Izumi's fate took a new direction, hurtling toward a future no one could have foreseen.
The true nature of his ability, an unknown past, former companions, blood relatives whose existence is uncertain: one mystery after another awaits him. A soul blessed with good fortune will eventually reach the promised time.
When science and magic intertwine, the story begins.
