Meng Sui had spent nineteen years struggling through the mire. On the first day after leaving juvenile detention, she was told she was the long-lost heiress of the Chen family in the capital.
The good news was that the Chen family was rich.
The bad news was that their finances had been shaky lately.
To make ends meet, Meng Sui had to take good care of her fiance, Pei Nan, so the Pei family wouldn't pull their investment.
But her fiance was a lunatic.
The first time Meng Sui met him, she thought there was something wrong with him. He insisted that his tea be made with a precise number of leaves, a precise amount of water, and at a precise temperature, and wouldn't drink it unless someone played the guqin for him.
It was obvious he didn't like her, either.
In their first exchange, he lazily lifted his eyelids and looked down at her through narrowed eyes, speaking in a sarcastic tone. "Do you know when a piano and a suona play together?"
Meng Sui: "When?"
He gave a cold laugh. "When I get engaged to you."
Meng Sui: ...
As they spent time together, Meng Sui discovered he wasn't just sharp-tongued. He was also a germaphobe, picky, fussy, sickly, and full of quirks. In short, he could have been a perfectly decent person, but chose to act like a dog instead.
At last, the Chen family weathered its crisis.
On the day they called off the engagement, she removed the tires from Pei Nan's most prized sports car and played a suona version of "Good Days" outside his house all night.
That felt great.
Elementary-school Pei: I'm not happy. I haven't even managed to confess yet :)

Before his twentieth birthday, Pei Nan never dreamed he would fall for Meng Sui.
But after he really did, he invited her to admire his favorite moonlight on the night of the Mid-Autumn Festival, planning a romantic confession.
An endless grassland, the starry sky hanging low.
Pei Nan: "Look, the moon is beautiful tonight."
He turned to gaze affectionately at her, only to find that at some point she had wandered over to the off-road vehicle to inspect its tires.
Pei Nan was furious. He ran over and shouted in her ear, "Tonight! The moon! Is beautiful!"
Only then did Meng Sui look up, belatedly. Confusion flashed in her dark eyes, followed by the pitying concern one might show a fool, then a mother's loving indulgence. She answered perfunctorily, "Yeah. It looks like a giant Wangwang snow cake."
Pei Nan: ...
Damn.
A fearless, wild-growing heroine who is a looks-obsessed steel-straight woman VS a gorgeous, sickly, picky, tsundere, sharp-tongued, childish hero.
Trying my hand at a sweet romance.
