The Rebel Becomes Emperor, the Captive Becomes Empress

Blurb:

Today, the chancellor raised an army in rebellion and marched straight for the Empress's bedchamber.

The man held a sword, his tone icy. "Do you know how many people I've captured tonight?"

The woman replied bitterly, "I do."

The man continued, "Then do you know what fate awaits you?"

The woman paused. "I do."

Gong Xian glared at her coldly, his face livid.

"So could you please put down those grapes and stop eating for a moment? Show me some respect."

"..." What's wrong with him?

Their story is an unusual one.

She was the Empress, he was the Chancellor. The slightest disagreement had them at each other's throats, evenly matched, each concealing murderous intent.

He became Emperor, and she became Empress. The palace saw no more legends of lovers who fought as fiercely as they loved,

leaving only the endless resentment of all the single palace residents...

A one-on-one romance, both leads have had no previous partners.

An alternate era, with a bickering couple.

A proud, cold-hearted, cunning Empress vs. an obsessive, scheming, devilish Chancellor.

There's a kind of childhood friendship called being devoted to someone you've secretly loved for a long time.
