The Crown Prince's Beloved Consort

Blurb: Once you enter the Eastern Palace, it's as deep as the sea. From then on, integrity is a thing of the past. The Crown Prince of the Eastern Palace has been frail and sickly since childhood, and is constantly taking medicine. The emperor chooses a bride for him, hoping the wedding will bring him good fortune. The court officials are so alarmed that they marry off every eligible daughter in their families. Just then, Gu Zhao, the Crown Prince's study companion, is exposed as a woman in disguise, accused of throwing the palace into chaos. The emperor flies into a rage and orders her entire family executed. On hearing the news, the Crown Prince seems to rally at death's door and immediately says, "Father, I don't want to choose anymore. I'll take her!" Unable to reject the Crown Prince's wishes, the emperor demotes Gu Zhao to a concubine of the Eastern Palace. The first thing Gu Zhao does upon entering the Eastern Palace is pin the Crown Prince to the bed, intending to strangle him. Who could have guessed that the Crown Prince would spring up like a carp and strangle her back... Gu Zhao: Aren't you supposed to be a sickly weakling? Crown Prince: Aren't you supposed to be a man? Gu Zhao: You were faking your illness! Crown Prince: You were pretending to be a man! Gu Zhao (waving her hand): Fine, fine. Neither of us is any good, so let's just make do together.
