[Naruto] World Consciousness

At some point, the world gained consciousness of its own.

Since her birth, this gentle World Consciousness had always listened to the voices of her children.

Voices of sorrow, of happiness, all kinds of voices.

The more she listened, the better she understood her children, and the more she realized that they were not happy now.

The consciousness from another world that had once raised her had told her that children were precious and fragile, and needed especially careful nurturing to grow up healthy.

Then she would grant them power.

With power, these children would grow strong and be able to find happiness, wouldn't they?

She poured her power into the Divine Tree. Watching peace spread across the continent and smiles return to the children's faces, she fell into a deeply contented sleep.

The beautiful world she thought she would see when she awoke had become a hell consumed by war.

Had her help been a mistake?

The young World Consciousness was confused. Had she done something wrong?

This time, she thought, she would go to her children's side. Then she could make the right choice.

The World Consciousness willingly fell asleep. Her body remained in the Sea of Worlds, guarded by the world itself. She sealed away her memories and attached her power to a lovely child, so she could experience the children's lives firsthand and feel what they longed for.
