On the 1,500th anniversary celebration of the Imperial United Military Academy in the year 50XX, Professor Emeritus Alice Tang reclines in a comfortable beach chair, holding a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice made from ancient Earth heirloom fruit, worth a fortune. She drowsily watches the mech dance in the center of the stage, which has no sense of beauty whatsoever.

Just as she's about to fall asleep, someone cries out. The student supposedly hailed as the mech academy's once-in-a-thousand-years genius lead dancer spins through a flashy 720-degree leap and lands on one knee in front of her, expressionless. "Teacher, may I mark you?"

Alice's hand shakes, spilling half a glass of orange juice worth a hundred thousand credits all over the ground.

About the setting:

Here's what actually happened:

1. After Earth's destruction, humanity was forced into a mild interstellar era. More than two thousand years ago, ancient humans fled into space to survive, but were attacked along the way and perished. Ancient Earth civilization was wiped out, including its species, culture, traditions, and everything else.

2. After humanity survived, the conditions it faced were so harsh that people had to devote all their energy and strength to war machines like mechs and spaceships in order to stay alive. This created a society that prioritized military technology over the arts and humanities.

3. So, two thousand years later, human civilization has started over and developed into the society of this story. (This social structure only exists among the nobility, because people of that era revered the ancestors who saved all of humanity after an accident involving twenty spaceships.)

Older woman-younger man romance (By the standards of the new interstellar humans, who live an average of 300 years, the heroine is two years older than the hero, which is practically nothing by comparison. But she is indeed older, hahaha.)
