Autumn's chill, winter's cold, the joy and sorrow of parting and reunion. Even the Ten Divine Powers are all in vain.
The phrase "Ten Divine Powers" is used among certain Taoist sects. The Wenchang Emperor's Great Cavern Scripture says: "From these arise the ten powers; from these the wondrous practices flourish. Within the bright, luminous realm lies the true, mysterious scripture of the One Emperor." Yet no Taoist text specifies exactly what the "ten powers" are. Later accounts mention things like the "divine power of knowing the minds of others" and the "divine power of unobstructed, pure heavenly sight," among others, resembling the familiar "clairvoyance," "clairaudience," "mind reading," and "immortality." The origin of these ten powers, however, can no longer be traced.
This book is titled The Ten Divine Powers, but its story is about the martial world. They say only Golden Immortals of the Great Vehicle can possess the Ten Divine Powers. But how much can even a Golden Immortal of the Great Vehicle control in this world?
