Being a Consort Is No Easy Thing

(My next story, The Heart-Stealing Demon Lord Chases His Wife to the Crematorium, is looking for readers to add it to their reading lists.) First there's a scumbag crown prince, then a scheming white lotus. The crown princess says she can't go on living like this. She wants a divorce! If she can't get a divorce, then... he can just divorce her. They say a wife can be divorced for any of the Seven Grounds, so Song Ran spends every day testing the limits of what might get her divorced. First ground: The crown princess suffers food poisoning and becomes gravely ill... Second ground: The crown princess defies her superiors and talks back to the empress... Third ground: The crown princess secretly keeps entertainers and is obsessed with listening to music... Seventh ground: The crown princess has been childless for years and has failed in her wifely duties... The crown princess causes trouble every step of the way, but fate has other plans, and in the end she still becomes empress. With no other choice, Song Ran fakes her death and escapes. From then on, the emperor is far away and she can live in peace. Half a year later, everyone knows that a notorious female bandit has appeared outside Xilin City... Everyone says the bandit chief is deliberately making trouble for the Xilin family. Sure enough, before long, she announces from the mountain: "A hundred taels of gold to anyone who can bring the Lord of Xilin City to me." A month later, the young lord of the Xilin family walks right into her trap and whispers in her ear, his voice low and husky. "So in A Song's eyes, I'm only worth a hundred taels of gold?" Below is the blurb for The Heart-Stealing Demon Lord Chases His Wife to the Crematorium. Please add it to your reading list. Lin Yi is the illegitimate son of the Heavenly Emperor and a member of the demon clan. After his birth, the so-called righteous gods abandoned him in the Cangming Void to scrape by, where he grew up wild. In the celestial realm of Yaochi, there is a glazed lotus pod. Eating its lotus heart grants ten thousand years of power. On the first day after stealing the pod and bringing it back to Cangming, the glazed lotus pod begins to wither and die because it cannot adapt to its new environment. Lin Yi uses his own power to keep it alive. On the second day back in Cangming, Lin Yi tends it carefully, waiting for it to grow a lotus heart... On the seventh day back in Cangming, Lin Yi returns to the cave where he lives, only to find a beautiful young woman soaking in the water vat that had held the glazed lotus pod. His brow twitches. "...Turn back!" The girl leans over the edge of the vat, silently staring at him with a pair of dewy eyes. Lin Yi: ...Fine. A human heart will do, I suppose. Later, after being steeped in his malice, the girl grows a black heart. Lin Yi comforts himself: The color's a little ugly, but it'll work just as well. But the day he cuts her heart out, he sees with his own eyes a large drop of bloody tears fall from the girl's eye as she collapses to the ground, on the verge of withering away... After the girl vanishes for a long time, he finally finds traces of her in the mortal world. But by then, the man at her side is imposing and arrogant, and sneers at him. "You're a little late, Mr. Lin. Your fiancée is already more than three months pregnant." His gaze drops, and sure enough, he sees the girl's slightly rounded belly. A pain in his left chest is unbearable, and only he understands that this time, it is his own heart that hurts... After her heart is cut out, Shui Miao becomes a demon overnight and forgets all her past lives. With no memories, Shui Miao feels her empty chest and is convinced that her true form was an oddly shaped green lotus root. As a lotus root, she naturally needs water. But despite its name, the Cangming Void is a barren land stretching a thousand miles, with no lakes or seas in sight. So "Lotus Root" Shui Miao sets out to search for water. The first step in her long journey is to leave the Cangming Void. But an annoying fellow named Lin Yi stops her from leaving day and night, even kneeling on the ground and weeping as he desperately begs her not to go. Shui Miao rubs her forehead and sighs. "Are you crazy?" Later, at the suggestion of a demon princess, Shui Miao resolutely jumps off the Yunxian Cliff. At last she leaves the parched Cangming Void, and finally gets away from Lin Yi, that lunatic. As soon as she enters the mortal world, Shui Miao sells herself to the lord of a manor. "Shen Yu, can I go home with you?" Shen Yu looks at the girl with leaves all over her head and can't bear to refuse. "You can." At the inn, the girl gazes longingly at his lunch. "Shen Yu, can I eat with you?" Shen Yu looks at her fawn-like eyes. "...Go ahead." Shen Yu is bathing with his eyes closed, resting. Suddenly, the wooden door crashes open and the girl rushes in, acting as if she were at home. She gathers up her skirt, one foot already in the tub. Only when she notices his expression does she turn and cautiously ask, "Shen Yu, can I..." Before she can finish, Shen Yu pulls her out of the tub. "No!" Premise: Let's journey across ten thousand miles of mountains and rivers together, and guard them for ten thousand years.
