Ashes of Love: You Are No Good Man

He is the orphaned son of a dragon fish, the lonely God of Night, who lives in the Palace of Xuanji, deep in the Dark Forest at the end of the rainbow. She is the Zhulong of the demon realm, wanton and unruly, the Nineflower Goddess who has lived alone for millennia and stands above all the gods.

The God of Night laments the mercilessness of Heaven's Way, wishing only that the falling flower's love might be returned. Nineflower roams freely through heaven, earth, and the Six Realms, but the flowing water is the one thing beyond her reach.

His fate is full of misfortune, yet he remains serene and detached: a modest gentleman, gentle as jade, refined through cutting and polishing. None in the world can compare, yet he is not the right person for her.

She is high above all others, yet indulges her every whim: proud, beautiful, capricious, and devious. No one dares claim second place when it comes to her talent for causing trouble, yet she too is not the right person for him.

Heaven's Way is merciless, for if Heaven felt love, it too would grow old. Flowing water is merciless too, and falling flowers and flowing water part more often than not. All they wish for is to spend their lives together, just the two of them.

But what does it mean to live? How does one die? Among the two, one is a departed soul.

Flowers bloom and leaves fall; things change and stars shift. All is decided by fate. Don't force anything. What isn't mine cannot be had; what's meant for you won't escape. Fate has decreed it. May we both be well.

Runyu: Aunt, you needn't love me deeply, just love me for a long time.

Aunt: I'll love you for as long as you're here. But first, give me a measure of this "shallow" love, or I won't know how much to give.
