Every Year with a Childhood Friend

Ding Yu transmigrated into a coastal town somewhere. At one, a family moved in across the street. They had a three-year-old boy. At two, she took the boy to gnaw on the old elm tree in the courtyard. At three, she and the boy pretended to be beggars in the courtyard and were beaten within an inch of their lives by the adults. At twelve, the boy was leaving town. Before he left, he gave Ding Yu a small knife, but the adults confiscated it. At thirteen, a plague swept through the town, and everyone in her family died. Clutching the knife, Ding Yu decided to go find the boy. Luckily, she found him. But the first thing she saw on his face was surprise. Keeping his distance, he politely asked the somewhat disheveled Ding Yu, "Who are you?" Ding Yu: "..." I'm your ancestor! You bastard! * Reader's Notes 1.
