Blurb:
On the day Jiang Yingwei is married, a masked man crashes into her bridal sedan in the middle of the street.
She catches sight of his deep, icy eyes. In the blink of an eye, a bloodied blade is at her throat, and his ragged breath washes over the back of her ear, burning hot beneath the blazing sun.
He's badly wounded, and the blood dripping onto her neck is hot as fire
In her panic, she catches sight of his golden waist token.
Commander of the Imperial Guard.
.
That night, Xu Suian is so badly injured that he's barely conscious and unable to move. Yet he clearly remembers the girl's delicate, lovely profile in the dim candlelight, her face dampened with water, and her clear, bright eyes.
When he returns to the capital, they meet again, but she is already engaged to someone else.
He stands upstairs, watching her on the long street in the gentle spring breeze. She lifts her radiant face and smiles warmly at another man.
He thinks that perhaps he doesn't have to be a gentleman after all.
Before marrying someone else, Jiang Yingwei watches the man who's been sneaking beneath her window in the middle of the night for several nights. At last, she can't resist opening the window to ask, "Didn't you say you were a gentleman, my lord?"
In the moonlight, the Commander of the Imperial Guard, so ruthless in his dealings with others and so distant from everyone, now holds her close as if he might fall apart. He is desperate, yet careful, and his voice is gentle and bitter:
"What gentleman? I can do without that."
P.S. The male lead is an upright gentleman to his very core. He's always gentle with the heroine and has never done anything to hurt her. The heroine is good at putting on an act and isn't as innocent as she seems.
I'm terrible at writing blurbs. This story came from a sudden burst of inspiration while I was bored, and I started it because I really like the heroine's name.
I hope that anyone lucky enough to find this story will find joy and happiness!
