Nonhuman Investigation Bureau

After losing his job for the Nth time, Bai Chen had no choice but to look for work again. Before long, he received an invitation from the Supernatural Ability Investigation Bureau. The job was a little risky, but at least it was in his field. To help build a civilized city, he worked with his colleagues to deal with all kinds of paranormal incidents.

At first, his colleagues were all friendly, kind, and helpful. Gradually, Bai Chen realized that each of them was more outrageous than the last. There was the young woman who petted Taotie like a cat, and the young man who raised mice to sell for money...

Only Lian Hua from Human Resources seemed like a normal person. He was handsome, patient, and considerate, with an air of detachment from the world. He held an umbrella for Bai Chen when it rained and invited him to share a ride when he traveled out of town.

Grateful for the care, Bai Chen returned the kindness, always stepping in front of Lian Hua when danger struck.

Little did he know that the gentlest person was also the most dangerous.

Lian Hua had only meant to look after the new recruit, so whenever he had free time, he showed Bai Chen the ropes and helped him earn a few more bonuses.

But the new recruit treated him like someone who needed protecting. Whenever danger appeared, Bai Chen was always the first to step in front of him.

Lian Hua would hang back, thinking he could step in if the rookie ever got overwhelmed. But the rookie was so strong that he never got the chance to show what he could do.

Still, Lian Hua found himself getting a little addicted to being protected. Their comradeship gradually turned into something more, and he greedily began to want more...

Don't scare him. Take it slow.

Lian Hua reminded himself.
