At twenty-three, Xiang Yan made a wish to the gods: she hoped she could see Zhou Ru again.

The first time Zhou Ru saw Xiang Yan was on a pitch-black night.

The girl had just had a fight with her family. In a bad mood and desperate to rebel, she saw a tiny point of light up ahead and followed it, intending to ask for a light.

When she got closer, she realized a girl about her age was sitting there, with big eyes and fair skin, holding up a lit match and shivering in the cold wind.

Zhou Ru froze. She turned the words she wanted to say over and over in her mind, but in the end, not a single one came out.

Instead, she hurried over and sat down beside her, edging closer to the girl.

The girl looked up, her voice soft and sweet. "What are you doing?"

Zhou Ru blushed and softly replied, "I came to borrow a little light from you."
