A Record of the Hot-Blooded Sports Anime Hero’s Descent into Darkness

Xiang Tianhui is a useless college student who never lifts a finger, knows nothing about the crops that feed him, and spends every day battling for the title of biggest all-nighter champion. One day, a strange System suddenly came looking for him. 001: Hee, llo, there! I’m the Super Invincible Cosmic Thunderbolt Hot-Blooded Sunshine Sports Youth System! Useless College Student: ...Huh? 001: Congratulations, young man! You’ve been chosen by the God of Sports! Useless College Student: ...Huh? 001: I’ve prepared a super deluxe package of tennis, soccer, volleyball, basketball, and more, so go all out! Our goal is a Grand Slam of championships! Useless College Student: ... What a weirdo. But protests were useless [Middle School Arc: Magic Tennis] He resigned himself to picking up a tennis racket. To improve his odds of winning, he deliberately transferred to a school that had dominated the competition for two consecutive years. They’ve already won twice. Surely winning one more time won’t be hard. He can coast, too. But he never expected that being the underdog was the true formula for a sports series. Xiang Tianhui: ... In a fit of rage, he restarted three times First playthrough: Coasts and gets crushed; Second playthrough: Works hard and gets caught up in the competition, only to miss out on the championship by a hair; Third playthrough: Goes! Completely! Insane! Wins the Kanto championship! Wins the national championship! Makes it to U-17... has his worldview shattered by murderous tennis and runs away in the middle of the night... Xiang Tianhui: What the hell are you people even playing? (Muggle meltdown.jpg) At last, after he refused to let up, the System reluctantly gave him a cheat: scientific tennis. 001: The light of science shines equally upon everyone. (Mercy.jpg) Xiang Tianhui: Thanks, I’ll take it. It’s great, except I have to solve a set of physics problems before using every skill. [Intermission Arc: Prison Soccer] At last free of those damn physics problems, he was moved to tears at the sight of normal soccer. No fire! No light! No black holes! No summoned familiars!!! But it turned out he was still far too naive Wait, what did you say... a prison? Did I commit a crime? Only one of three hundred people can survive? A soccer horror game? Xiang Tianhui fell silent. Xiang Tianhui had an epiphany: I get it. 001: ...Wait, you don’t get it! Learning his lesson, he applied the sports-protagonist underdog rule and immediately set his sights on the player in last place. I’ll shark you first :) [High School Arc: Youth Volleyball] The useless college student, already as thoroughly jaded as could be after countless loops, was caught off guard by the radiant light of youth “Volleyball is a team sport. It’s all about working together.” “You have teammates backing you up!” “Even if you lose the match, you won’t die.” “...” Xiang Tianhui, now corrupted, curled his lips into a smile. Did they really think he would believe that nonsense? He was no longer the person he used to be. Having mastered every trick in the book, he could see at a glance that there was only one truth Both sides of the net are enemies! ○ A sports-series mash-up, focused on athletic competition. The Prince of Tennis arc is complete. ○ I don’t understand sports competitions, and I don’t know much about physics either. I’m trying to make it sound plausible... roughly 1% concepts and 99% imagination, I guess. (Looks away.) ○ I expected this to be a story of dark, crawling corruption, but it turned into an over-the-top, hot-blooded teen fantasy while I was writing it. Then I finished and realized it was a comedy. (Emmmm.) ○ Update schedule: Getting back into the swing of things.
