The Marquis's legitimate daughter transmigrates to the 1970s. Her parents dote on her, she has an older brother, and she's even engaged. Life is wonderful.
But her cousin has her eye on her fiance and is determined to break them up. She even secretly keeps in touch with him behind her back.
Later, the cousin and her fiance get together, and then have the nerve to come to her door: one demands that she break off the engagement, while the other asks her to give them her blessing.
Yu Xiaoshu gives them a cold stare and grits her teeth. "Get out. Both of you."
Yu Xiaoshu was pampered from childhood and can't lift or carry anything. Now that her engagement is over, she becomes the village joke overnight. "She'll never find a husband."
But the very next day, the taciturn man from the head of the village shows up with gifts. "I've got three kids. If you're okay with that, marry me. You'll be in charge of our family from now on."
Yu Xiaoshu can't find a husband? A suitor just showed up at her door!
Think you can laugh at her? Not a chance!
"I'm okay with it, I'm okay with it..."
Only later does she learn that this man has been longing for her for ages and was just waiting to marry her.
As soon as Yu Xiaoshu marries into the family, the villagers start saying, "The Chen family is so poor. Can Yu Xiaoshu put up with it? She'll be back at her parents' house in three days, tops."
Yu Xiaoshu sneers. "Your family is so poor you eat meat in huge portions? Your family is so poor you eat fine grain every day?"
The people waiting to laugh at her end up envying her one by one.
Her husband dotes on her, and the children are well-behaved and considerate.
Husband: "Honey, leave the hard work to me. You just keep our bed warm."
Older girl: "I only have one mom, and that's Yu Xiaoshu."
Older son: "No woman but Yu Xiaoshu is allowed through our door."
Younger son: "My mom is the best mom in the world. I love her most."
Note: The children are not the male lead's biological children.
The male lead is tight-fisted with everyone except the heroine.
Reader's guide:
The story is mainly set in the 1970s, but there are differences between the north and south, so please don't scrutinize it too closely.
Domestic life, a lively household, a heartwarming daily-life farming story.
The author is a goofball, letting loose as they write. Don't expect logic; the author has none.
