Shuangyue learned Wanqi Yu's true intentions, but still decided to help him obtain Dong Li's eyes to cure his illness. She conspired with the imperial physician and staged a scene in front of Dong Li, making him believe that if his eyes were used as medicine, Shuangyue would be able to conceive and win Wanqi Yu's favor. Dong Li agreed. But on the day the eyes were to be offered, Dong Li awoke to see Chuchen, who had transformed into his likeness, gouging out his own eyes for Wanqi Yu. Dong Li realized that Chuchen was the one who had truly saved his life. But without his eyes, Chuchen lost his spiritual power, and his life was over.
