“The Iron Rooster brought home a pretty boy to serve as his adviser” spread throughout An County Office. Everyone was waiting to see what kind of ripples this dead water could make.
Later, whenever anyone ran into trouble, they would ask, “Mr. Ning, what do you think we should do?”
Only Deputy Magistrate Zhao rebuked them: Birds of a feather flock together, and crooks stick together!
The fallen officials of the past all said that officialdom made it difficult to have both fame and fortune.
Ning Yongwei: I want both the fish and the bear’s paw.
Ning Yongwei did not think of herself as a quiet person. She was simply playing along with Bu Jius, eagerly joining him in his reckless antics and silently keeping him company whenever he fell into a gloom for no apparent reason.
So later, when something more important came up, she left without hesitation, leaving him unwilling to let go yet daring not to stay at Medicine King Valley.
