Su Yan transmigrates into a scum-and-masochist novel, becoming a pathetic shou who grovels at his lover's feet. At his engagement ceremony, his scum gong Ling Xiao pulls him into a grove to reminisce about their old relationship. Su Yan fights off his disgust and gets rid of him, only for his cold poison to flare up as soon as he turns away. He collapses straight into a warm, solid embrace. Looking up, he sees He Chengyuan, Ling Xiao's future brother-in-law. He is a gentleman universally admired by the world, as well as a refined, otherworldly beauty on an unattainable peak. In his daze, Su Yan suddenly catches the scent of the man's pure yang energy, which comforts him so much that he shivers. It is a lifeline that can cure his cold poison. Seeing Ling Xiao return, Su Yan steels himself and snuggles into He Chengyuan's arms, pleading softly, "I'm not feeling well. Could you carry me away from here?" He Chengyuan gazes down at his pale face for a long moment, then turns to Ling Xiao, who has followed them. "Young Master Ling, I'm taking him with me." Later, in order to survive, Su Yan uses every trick in the book to make this unattainable beauty fall for him with the only true love of his life. Once he recovers, Su Yan packs up and runs away in the middle of the night, only for He Chengyuan to corner him against a wall. The man gently strokes his cheek, all the tenderness of the past gone, leaving only terrifying obsession and madness in his eyes. "After using me, you think you can just leave?" He chuckles softly, his fingertips brushing the spiritual jade Su Yan always wears against his chest. It is a pure yang treasure he gave him himself, bearing his life mark, and it drove away Su Yan's cold poison. "Yan Yan, how could you not understand?"
