(Naruto Shisui BG) Morning Dew

There's a shameless little thing here hoping for favorites and reviews~~~(*·▽·*)

Initial warnings:

The story's focus: two aloof, proud, and secretly flirtatious people trying to get a rise out of each other [what a stretch].

Childhood friends and sweethearts, I guess? Mutual crushes??? (Maybe in the far, far, far, far, far, far, far, far future.)

The heroine is Itachi's younger sister, and she's six years younger than Shisui. No transmigration, no transmigration, no transmigration of any kind!!! (This is important!!!)

Maybe it's a shameless Mary Sue story. Who knows?

There are original characters other than the heroine who aren't just cannon fodder or random walk-ons.

Warnings:

1. This story also goes by the titles "Eighteen Ways a Naturally Dark-Souled Girl Flirts with Guys" and "How to Watch Your Dream Guy's Character Fall Apart." So, OOC warning.

2. The author is obsessed with silly antics and crispy fried duck, and has a long-winded, rambling writing style with the feel of a serious drama. It's 1v1 with a guaranteed happy ending, trust me. (*^ω^*)

3. Following up on point 1, this story came from a sudden burst of inspiration (don't ask what the idea was, I've forgotten). I don't know how my fellow fans define Shisui's personality, so I'm just winging it and having fun. If I mess him up, please go easy on me. (* - v - *)

4. Following up on point 3, I haven't touched Naruto in years (including the Boruto manga, anime, and all related fan works), so I've inevitably forgotten things. The plot will mostly follow the original, but I can't promise to get every detail right. I'm lazy.

5. I'll try to update daily. If I can't manage that, I'll post every two or three days and promise to finish. If I abandon this story, I'll livestream myself eating manuscript paper on the platform. This post is proof, so feel free to screenshot it.

6. Unrelated to the story: I started writing this before, but abandoned it~~~ The first version was scrapped and even my own mother wouldn't recognize it, so don't ask where it went. I won't tell you, teehee~~~(*￣︶￣)

You have to admit, being a "little menace" is a truly remarkable thing. It can describe a toddler, spread to teenagers, and even apply to old men. Hated by people and dogs alike, it can make even the gods give way, becoming "invincible under heaven" all thanks to shamelessness, or simply having no shame at all.

But we forget: "Dew on the scallion leaves, how quickly it dries. When the dew dries, it falls again at dawn. When the dead depart, when will they ever return?" [1]

The dead are gone for good. Old friend, you ask when I will return, but there is no date in sight. [2]

Life is as fleeting as morning dew. The days that have passed are bitterly many. [3]

And yet those left behind must go on living, and ought to have something to hold on to, even if only the thought of "if only life were always as it was at first meeting" [4]...

Ruo gave a cold laugh.

To hell with first meetings! Forget it.
